The Museum is open on Mondays during the summer months, from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

The Museum is open on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, the week of Spring Break, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Mondays before Thanksgiving & Christmas.

The Museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day; with early closings at 3:00 pm on Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.

Smithsonian Affiliate members from an Affiliate organization who presents a current Smithsonian Affiliate membership card receive free general admission for two at The Health Museum. Visit the Affiliate Reciprocal Membership Program page for a map and more details.  

Museum members and ASTC reciprocal members receive free general admission to The Health Museum (valid for household family members up to six people). Proof of residence required: Must be redeemed in person with a valid ASTC membership card.

Present your EBT card to receive a discounted general admission ticket of $3.00 for up to a family of four.

Blue Star Museums offers free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including the National Guard and Reserve. The 2023 Blue Star Museums program begins on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 20, 2023, and ends on Labor Day, Monday, September 4, 2023.

Metro riders receive 50% off admission and 20% off in the Amazing Body Store. Show fare ticket from that day at the admissions desk.

Homeschool Tuesdays

Homeschool groups receive a $2 discount per admission every second Tuesday of the month, during the fall and spring semesters. See details on our homeschool page.

Law Enforcement Weekend

Law Enforcement Weekend takes place on the first weekend of each month, where our law enforcement can visit the museum to see the Drugs: Costs & Consequences exhibit for free, for up to 6 family members. Professional identification is required upon check-in. Parking and other program fees remain the same.

  • The closest MetroRail stop is MUSEUM DISTRICT (RedLine). From there, walk 5 blocks east on Ewing Street to The Health Museum.
  • The closest MetroBus stop is BINZ@CRAWFORD (Southmore Route 005). Walk 2 blocks south on Crawford to The Health Museum.
  • Take I-45 to 288 South
  • Exit Calumet Street
  • Turn right on Binz (second light)
  • Turn left on Crawford and enter bus lane or parking lot
  • Parking lot entrance is on Hermann Drive
  • If Southbound on I-59, exit I-59 at Fannin Street
  • If Northbound on I-59, take Shepherd Exit North (left)
  • Turn right on Richmond, proceed to Fannin
