Privacy Policy
The Health Museum is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of its users.
Your privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to us. Because we gather certain types of information about our users, we feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather, how we use it, and how to correct or change it.
Information Gathering & Tracking
The Health Museum gathers two types of information about users: data that users provide through mandatory, voluntary registration, and aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our site. Such information enables us to better tailor our content to users’ needs. The Museum does not share information about individual users with any third party.
Links to Third-Party Sites
The linked sites are not under the control of The Health Museum and therefore are not responsible for the contents of any linked site or any link contained in a linked site, or any changes or updates to such sites. thehealthmuseum.org is providing these links to you only as a convenience, and the inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement by The Museum.
Usage Tracking
This website tracks user traffic patterns. We may also track information to determine which pages on our website users like and don’t like based on the traffic to the particular page. The Museum does not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. However, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. The Museum may, from time to time, break down overall usage statistics according to a user’s domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string, which is contained in every user’s browser.
Use of the information
As stated above, The Health Museum uses information that users voluntarily provide in order to send out electronic newsletters. We send out newsletters to subscribers on a regular schedule (usually monthly, depending on the newsletter), and periodically send out special editions when we think subscribers may be interested in something we are doing. The Museum never shares newsletter mailing lists with any third parties, including advertisers or partners.
When users register for educational programs, purchase a membership, or make a donation online or on-site, the user will be asked to provide us with the information needed to process their registration, membership, or donation transaction and to acknowledge their contribution to The Museum. This information may include your name, billing and mailing addresses, telephone number, e-mail address, and credit card information. We do not collect the user’s credit card security code. Your credit card information will not be used for any purpose other than to process your transaction. We retain your personal identification information for our records. The Health Museum does not retain anyone’s credit card information after a transaction has been processed.
The Health Museum regularly sends e-mails and newsletters to our members to provide them with previews of its upcoming exhibitions, events, and other programs. Users may unsubscribe from any of our electronic newsletters at any time by following the instructions contained at the end of every newsletter.
Sharing of the information
The Health Museum does not share information collected through the website about individual users with any third parties, including advertisers or partners. The Museum does not control our partners’ practices.
Revisions to the Privacy Policy
The Health Museum reserves the right to revise its privacy policy at any time without notice. These changes are effective immediately upon posting on this website.
