Home School

The home school community is a vital and important part of the Museum.  The Health Museum offers interactive home school classes, dissections and physics series for PreK - 12th graders.

* The Fall Home School Class schedule will be announced and ready for registration mid-summer.  Please frequent our website for the latest updates.

The Health Museum offers Vocabulary and Concepts Sheets for pre- and post-review for PreK to 2nd grade3rd to 5th grade and 6th to 12th graders who participate in our home school classes.

Private Home School Classes

Did you know that The Health Museum offers privately scheduled classes and dissections for groups of 15 or more? You may bring a group of less than 15, but you will be charged for a minimum of 15 students. The cost is the same per person as for our scheduled classes. Scheduling a private class allows for a great deal of flexibility in choosing the class or dissection of your choice. In order to reserve a private class, you must speak to the home school program manager in person or over the phone.

Please review the Class Descriptions for class selection.

Do not mail a group registration form without making arrangements for an
appropriate time and date with the manager.

To inquire about private registrations for the Spring 2013 semester, please contact the Home School Program Manager directly at homeschool@thehealthmuseum.org or 713-521-1515 ext. 296.

Exclusive Home School Day Camps

Interested in hands-on experiments and dissections?  How about going on a field trip to the Texas Medical Center?  Or even making a scientific dessert?  The Health Museum's Home School Day Camp Program is for you!  To set up a private camp, please contact the Home School Program Manager at homeschool@thehealthmuseum.org or 713-521-1515 ext. 296.

Physics Series

Did you know that Physics is the basis for all the other sciences? Learn the big names in Physics and how they contributed to the study of Physics. Students will learn what properties distinguish one type of matter to another. Put the scientific method to use by designing and testing your own orginal paper airplane, collecting data and organizing it into charts and graphs. Students will also explore the principles of velocity and momentum and how to calculate them. They will then put the terms and ideas they have learned together to build a hovercraft!

The physics series is ideal for ages 8 - 13 and is $20 per student per class.  The physics series runs for approximately an hour and a half.

If you would like to set up a private Physics series, you need a minimum of 15 students and will need to contact the Home School Manager at homeschool@thehealthmuseum.org with dates and times you are interested in.
